Mechanical Engineering includes the science and art of formulation, design, development, and control of systems and components involving around thermodynamics, mechanics, fluid mechanics, mechanisms, manufacturing, and energy. The Mechanical Engineering major has adopted a set of educational objectives that frame the undergraduate curriculum The first two years are primarily concerned with developing basic scientific, mathematical and practical skills. The third year includes applied Engineering units in Thermal Engineering, Materials, Automatic Control, Mechanical Design & Engineering Management. In the final year, the students should complete the compulsory Mechanical Engineering Project and they can broaden their knowledge by following the elective subjects,
The course includes project work based on laboratory, library and field work and partial assessment completed through seminars. The students are expected to undergo six months’ on the job training within a scheduled period prior to completion of the degree programme.
Mechanical Engineering graduates can find employment in companies ranging from large multi-nationals to small, local firms. Job functions and responsibilities range from product and production design Engineering and systems design to power plant operations, quality control and project management.
With experience and further education, some Mechanical Engineers move into management positions that build upon their scientific and technical skills and expertise. Other choose the path of scholarly research and teaching.Graduate Mechanical Engineers have skills readily transferable between employers and often find work internationally.
