Bring products and services to life with visual stories. This course will give students the skills to develop a critical and contextual understanding of advertising and brand design. Working collaboratively, students will discover how the industry is being transformed by emerging technologies and discover innovative ways to solve creative problems.
This course investigates how visual stories are used to bring products and services to life. In the course, students will learn how to develop brand communication, social media content, marketing strategy and interactive experience, alongside more traditional print-based advertising campaigns.

Our students ‘learn with industry’ engaging with professional practice throughout the course. In the last three years, we have worked with global brands like Sky, Barclays and The O2 and leading creative studios such as Moving Brands, Studio Blup, Kin+Carta and JKR. Most recently, we were privileged to work with Apple on an exhibition called Unsigned Stories.

Students will be continually assessed through the preparation of written and project work. Assessment in the final year is through dissertation and portfolio.
Empower: The first year of the course is focused on the development of core skills and will help students understand key concepts and ideas related to Advertising and Branding.
Students will examine the historical context of the discipline, explore creative principles through an investigation of industry-standard design processes. The year will end with the creation of a full strategic campaign.
Explore: In the second year, students will examine and challenge the conventions of the discipline and collaborate with other students in the department of Design Practice.
Students will choose from a selection of units designed to promote the cross-disciplinary practice and examine emerging practice within our disciplines such as Social Media content creation, audience participation and interaction and experience design.At the end of the year, students will take part in a series of live projects with major clients such as WWE, Barclays, Shelter, MBNA Thames Clippers and Generator Hostels.
Engage: The third year provides an opportunity to personalise practice and present ideas to the world.
Students will write a dissertation and, with the support of the tutors, create a series of self-directed projects. This is an opportunity to explore personal interests related to advertising and branding.
In preparation for graduation, students will also collaborate with an industry partner and prepare a portfolio and the materials required to present work professionally.
Successful completion of this course can lead to postgraduate study in MA Communication Design, MDes Design Management Innovation, and MDes Luxury Brand Management Innovation.

Students on the course will learn to create graphic communication for contemporary media platforms.
They will construct stories that connect strategically across print, social and online channels to engage audiences and influence perception.
Students will learn to work across the likes of; apps, digital print, online media and mobile games as well as print and more traditional communication formats.

Graduates from this course are ideally positioned to take their place within rapidly expanding areas of the creative industries.
They work as creative directors, copywriters, digital designers, strategists, brand communicators, creative technologists and social media content creators.
Students will be expected to have five GCSEs (grade C/level 4 or above) or equivalent (including English), and hold at least one of the below or equivalent UK/international qualifications.

Level 3 Foundation Diploma or National Diploma
Advanced Diploma, grade C or above
International Baccalaureate, 24 points or above
International students will be required to have IELTS with an overall score of 5.5 or above, or TOEFL with an overall score of 72 or above.
If an applicant does not meet the English Language requirement at the point of application, then an additional English condition will be added to any offer of entry. Students should ideally have a background in art, creative media, or design. Applicants are expected to submit a portfolio of work that shows a range of their skills and demonstrates why they would be a good fit for the course.
We may also consider a combination of portfolio and academic qualifications and take into consideration progress made during studies and/or relevant work experience.
Fees and Scholarships
Annual fee for Home Postgraduate students: £9,250
Annual fee for International Postgraduate students: £16,500
International students making full payment of the above fee by 1 August in the year of entry receive a 5% discount.
International student progressing from Further Education to Higher Education: The cost of the foundation diploma course will be reimbursed over the three years of an undergraduate course. The discount applies for the three years of the undergraduate course and will not be applied to any repeat years.
In addition to any government loans you may be eligible for, Ravensbourne University London has a limited amount of bursaries and scholarships for undergraduate students.
