The Bachelor of Arts in Religion online degree completion program is designed to help meet the increasing demand for qualified and highly skilled professionals in the fields of ministry, nonprofit work, business, journalism, and other related fields, as well as the pursuit of further education. The religion program at Kentucky Wesleyan seeks to cultivate an appreciation of religious diversity by familiarizing students with the development, beliefs, and practices of multiple religious traditions. Read beyond national and disciplinary boundaries
The major in Literature is perfectly suited for students who love to read, analyze and create texts. Students seeking a bachelor's degree in Literature will encounter canonical literature, including poems, plays, and novels, as well as films, oral storytelling, song, journalism, comics, digital media and so much more. In addition to acquiring a broad knowledge of literary history, criticism, and theory, students will learn the skills to create some of the forms they study. The major thus produces critical readers and writers. Central to the major in Literature is the notion that literature has a vital relationship to culture and society. As the major offers students a traditional grounding in literary study and, at the same time, opens up connections to professional pathways, our students learn to think critically about the ways in which literary culture operates in the global sphere. Our topic-based courses are taught by faculty who publish internationally and have connections with the creative industries. Our offerings are particularly strong in the fields of postcolonial studies, travel writing, ecocriticism, media studies and modern literature and culture. Students who pursue a Literature major graduate prepared and inspired to pursue careers in fields such as journalism, publishing, researching, non-profit or government agencies and the media. Many students go on to further education in literary studies. The curriculum for the Literature major is organized around three components. After completing foundation courses that give students the essential tools for literary analysis and a strong theoretical...

The program emphasizes the historical and cultural understanding of the development of literature in English from the Anglo-Saxon period to the 21st century, but courses
The organized study of literature written in the English language has long proved its worth as a traditional discipline that exercises the imagination, encourages intellectual precision, and inculcates a critical appreciation of humane, liberal values. Students trained in this discipline have generally found that it has provided an appropriate background for careers in a variety of fields beyond the discipline including law, government, diplomacy, journalism, publishing, education, and, by no means least, business. The program emphasizes the historical and cultural understanding of the development of literature in English from the Anglo-Saxon period to the 21st century, but courses in the theory of the various literary genres are also required. In all courses, students must not only read texts with great care but also criticize them and present the results of their own research in well-written essays. The training in the skills of research and writing culminates in the thesis that a student must present in his/her senior year. There are clear advantages in pursuing an English major at an institution that belongs, like John Cabot University, to the English-speaking academic tradition, and this may be especially true for students whose first language is not English. There is also particular value, however, in studying English literature at an international university, which John Cabot is as well. In this international atmosphere, the content of each English course inevitably becomes somewhat internationalized, as it is related to the Italian context and to the other national backgrounds of the various students. Courses in Comparative...

We interact with the global community in a thousand different ways every day. We connect with friends near and far via computer and phone. We view updates on elections and currency crises, we track the spread of diseases and civil unrest, and we even follow the latest in music and dance from blogs and videos posted by people around the world. We do this using devices designed by international teams and built with materials and components from dozens of countries. We are part of a truly globalized planet.

The challenges of the 21st century are great: from controlling weapons of mass destruction to minimizing the impacts of climate change, from managing borderless trade and investment to tackling entrenched poverty and food insecurity, modern issues require international cooperation and collective solutions....
