Principles of Sound and Audio Practice
We will introduce you to the concept of sound as a physical phenomenon and show you how to predict its behaviour both physically and perceptually. You will then focus on the fundamental principles of audio production, including the theory and practical application of equalisers, dynamics processors and effects. This critical foundation will enable you to grasp the concepts of signal routing, microphones and loudspeakers, providing you with the basic skills to operate in a professional audio environment.
Signal Flow and Processing
This module is designed to help you build the theoretical knowledge necessary to operate in a modern studio environment. Working in the studio, you will develop the hands-on skills to operate professional audio equipment such as routing signals, setting up microphones and using outboard equipment. By focusing on the technical aspects of working in the studio, you are able to complete your first productions on both analogue and digital setups. Furthermore, you will advance your knowledge of music production techniques to a more sophisticated level.
You will become familiar with a wide range of professional tools and techniques used in the production of audio for multimedia applications. The focus is primarily on audio preparation for different media, including visuals and interactive environments. This module will enable you to explore the aesthetics and semantics of audio in terms of dramatic reality, whilst also providing an overview of possible career paths within the field from music production, broadcasting and live sound, through to sound for film, television and games.
Cost & Fees
SAE Institute is a private higher education provider. Funding towards tuition fees is available to UK/EU students but does not cover the whole course fee.
Tuition Fees vary according to campus and whether you are a UK/EU student or an International student.
For our campuses in Liverpool, London and Oxford, fees are £9,000 per year for UK Students and £13,000 per year for International students.
Fees at our Glasgow campus are £9,000 per year for UK/EU students and £11,000 per year for international students. From September 2019, these will rise to £11,500 per year for international students.
2 Year Degree
As our degrees are only 2 years, you save a considerable amount on both tuition fees and living expenses when compared to a traditional 3-year degree. So, you can study and graduate with a much lower level of student debt!
As Tuition Fee loan funding does not cover the whole course fee, there is a small amount that you may need to pay through your own means. We understand this is not always easy, especially when you don't have an income, which is why we have developed payment plans to spread the small difference you need to pay. If you are not eligible for funding, we have payment plans for you too.
