Introduction
The BSc (Hons) International Strategic Business Management with Foundation Year is aimed at students who have an interest in developing knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of international business management and in particular, who are looking to pursue an international career in business management. It seeks to give students a learning experience that allows them to develop proficiencies that create effective managerial behavior in different organizations in today’s changing business environment.
The curriculum and learning and teaching strategy are complemented by guest lectures and ‘live’ workshops to promote independent learning and increase their employability skills for the future. This knowledge and skills will be further developed and expanded in the years following the successful completion of the Foundation Year. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at the degree level. You will study six modules and on successful completion progress onto any of our three-year degrees.
The modules covered will initially enhance your communication skills, digital and information literacy, and ability to think critically. You then have the added flexibility of switching your degree program if another discipline captures your interest, subject to availability and entry requirements. Year 1 provides you with a good understanding of the foundations of business. Years 2 and 3 give you a thorough grounding in the more specialist concepts and applications of strategic management.
The program provides the intellectual underpinnings required for a career in a rapidly changing work environment, a rigorous approach to self-awareness and personal development, and significant exposure to the world of work and its current demands through work experience opportunities. Students will also have an opportunity to qualify for the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership, dependent on the successful completion of relevant modules.
