When you graduate with a B.S. in Business Administration in Hospitality Management from USF, your career options are almost limitless. Our hospitality graduates’ careers include event planning in high-end hotels, managing wineries or country clubs, and exciting entrepreneurial ventures, such as opening a restaurant to becoming a general manager or president of a hotel. USF provides a highly personalized and customizable business curriculum that will prepare you to seamlessly enter the hospitality industry of your choice.

At USF, we help you discover the areas of hospitality that most interest you, and we take great pride in being able to offer a personalized experience. The hospitality faculty is serious about mentoring; when you find the area of hospitality that most intrigues you, they will work with you to create a curriculum designed specifically to set you up for success upon graduation.

The Hospitality Management program emphasizes student experience to facilitate your success. We keep class sizes small and offer numerous opportunities for involvement in student organizations, most notably with clubs like the Hospitality Management Association (HMA) and the USF chapter of Club Managers’ Association of America (CMAA).

Not only do we encourage experiential learning for our students, but we have a well-structured hospitality internship requirement that helps prepare you for internships and jobs in San Francisco and around the world. We encourage you to diversify across several industries to best match your interests and skill sets.

Student Experience

Your hospitality management experience at USF is designed to provide hands-on, practical experience in a variety of settings.

  • Our state-of-the-art culinary lab recently underwent a major renovation to ensure that you learn the best techniques with the latest equipment.
  • Trips to the farmers’ market at the San Francisco Ferry Building highlight menu planning and ingredient sourcing.
  • Tours of local hotels include a glimpse into ‘back of the house’ and talking with experts about the life of hotel management.
  • Students also may visit a fine dining restaurant owned by USF alumni to learn the art of food and wine pairings.
  • Volunteer opportunities at Moscone center allow you to see how large conventions operate. And trips to Napa Valley for tastings and winery tours give an insider’s look of wine country.

As part of our commitment to a holistic hospitality curriculum, we also offer opportunities to join hospitality industry organizations. You’ll be able to join USF chapters of national hospitality organizations like the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) and our own Hospitality Management Association (HMA). Each provides you with invaluable industry networking opportunities at events both local and nationwide, such as HX: The Hotel Experience in New York, the industry’s largest conference and the CMAA World Conference and Business Expo.
