Introduction
Objective
The objective of this program is to provide students with a combination of knowledge, hands-on experience, and application of theory to information technology. The program keeps pace with changing technology and related business practices by offering courses in areas such as systems analysis, Web applications, several programming languages, and graphical user interface design. The curriculum emphasizes quantitative and communications skills as well as providing a foundation in business environments. Upon graduation, students will receive the degree Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Graduates of this program will qualify for employment as entry-level computer software applications engineers, computer and information systems managers, computer systems analysts, network systems professionals, and computer systems software engineers.
Length of Program
The program typically takes four years consisting of 12 semesters, each including two 8–week terms. The minimum time to complete the program is 48 months (192 weeks, 16 break weeks). Students must complete the associate’s degree plus a minimum of 55.0 credit hours, for a total of 123 credit hours. The complete program consists of approximately 2115 hours, which is comprised of 1575 hours of theory and 540 hours of laboratory.
Requirements
Application is open to people who have earned Missouri Tech’s Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology degree or the equivalent.
