It plays the role of a doctor for society by solving the various economic ills encountered by consumers, companies, and the nation. When talking about "economics", the image may be of it being a difficult subject, but it is actually a science that is very close to our lives. All of our daily actions, like shopping, going to the movies, and using our cell phones, are connected with "economic" activity. By learning the theory and acquiring a knowledge of economics, it is possible to solve the problems that Japan and the world face. "Economics" is a science that aims at improving people's lives and enriching society through the appropriate and practical utilization of the market. Studying this subject nurtures individuals who can solve the various economic problems that consumers, companies, and nations face. -

Agricultural science involves a wide range of areas—from food (specifically the production, usage, and distribution of agricultural, forestry, and fishery resources) to the life sciences and environmental problems. As such, this diverse science contributes greatly to solving the problems currently threatening society, including global warming, worldwide food shortages, and the rise in lifestyle diseases. Kindai University’s Faculty of Agriculture offers the most comprehensive and all-encompassing agricultural program of any private university in western Japan. We are composed of six departments that study and research a wide range of areas concerning the utilization of agricultural, forestry, and fishery resources and also have programs that strive to improve upon the most advanced techniques for food production, nutrition enhancement, biotechnology, and other related areas of study. By becoming a part of the Support Program for Contemporary Educational Needs (Modern Good Practice) in 2006 and the Global COE (Centers of Excellence) Program in 2008—both of which are under the auspices of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology—the Faculty of Agriculture has put itself at the forefront of agricultural research in Japan. -

In "Distribution", we aim at nurturing individuals who are well-versed in wholesale, retail, physical distribution, finance, and information, and who can reassess business relationships between companies while responding to environmental changes like globalization and computerization, in addition to being able to build new business relationships. In "Marketing", the goal is to foster individuals who can grasp the needs of the marketplace, develop new businesses, and plan and implement the development of new products and new services, etc. In the Department of Commercial Science, students learn the "distribution" of goods and services up to the point they reach consumers from the producer, about "marketing", where consumer needs are predicted and new markets then created, and more. They also study matters concerning everything related to "commerce", from the flow of goods and money and the ways of looking at product development to the methods of analyzing market trends. The convenience stores and restaurants that we all use regularly, the goods that are produced one right after another... our very surroundings are filled with many things connected to commercial science. Students learn the foundations of commercial science, starting from familiar items, and acquire extensive knowledge in connection with commercial transactions, such as administrative accounting, management information, and law. -

To date, "public services" have been seen as something provided by the government, but the idea of "new public services" that include private enterprises, NPOs, and other groups has spread in recent years. In the Department of Public Affairs, students investigate the current state of public service in an era of public-private cooperation. Learning is advanced from a broad perspective about the industry, tourism, environmental conservation, welfare, sports, leisure, amusement, etc., and the ability to manage public services from a many-sided point of view is acquired. As it can be presumed that public service provided by the private enterprise will continue to increase from here on, prospective students can consider a future involved in work that is fulfilling and offers a clear purpose in life featuring a high degree of social contribution. -

Basic studies to create mechanical systems Nowadays various types of robots are actively used in every field from electronic devices to surgical operation and healthcare support. This course encourages students to acquire knowledge and skills relating to kinematics, design engineering, processing engineering, assemble and create robots. The creative ability of innovative design and planning will be cultivated through the designing and manufacturing of robots. -
