A dual degree program is one in which the student simultaneously pursues courses of study in two disciplines leading to degrees in both. The student is required to satisfy the required professional courses of each of the disciplines being undertaken. The remaining non-required program courses and the elective requirements of the two disciplines are combined in such a way as to satisfy the requirements of the schools concerned and the University as a whole.

The four-year, pre-professional, undergraduate degree is a 126-credit-hour program culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.S. Arch.). The pre-professional architecture program introduces the student to the fundamentals of design. Course work weaves liberal arts courses with architectural design curriculum; architectural history through the ages; current technological advances in architecture; and the confluence of sustainable design, urbanism, and social justice through design.

Undergraduate course offerings are intended to introduce students to both classical and contemporary areas of science. Majors in biology generally follow a program that includes courses in general biology, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry, calculus, physics, and elective courses in the areas of science and biology.

The Department of Chemistry offers a B.S. in Chemistry certified by the American Chemical Society. This program offers students a rigorous course of study in the five traditional areas of chemistry (analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry). The program is designed to develop students' knowledge of chemistry while building skills in experimental techniques and scientific communication.

The study of physics is an attempt to understand the physical universe in as fundamental a way as possible. It examines the mathematical relationships that exist among the physical entities of the world, and, in particular, tries to discover the general principles that govern the behavior of the macroscopic and microscopic universe. At the core of the inquiry are the questions, "What is the world made of?" and "How does it work?" An undergraduate major in physics provides students with an education that prepares them for a variety of entry-level positions, as well as for postgraduate study in physics and allied fields.

The B.S. program in Psychological and Brain Sciences provides a strong foundation in the cognitive and neurological bases of behavior and a rigorous plan of math and natural sciences. The B.S. degree is an appealing option for students who are interested in following a pre-med or some other health sciences tracks or pursuing a neuroscience-related field.

Our psychology majors get one-on-one academic advising and stay in close touch with the faculty, and also benefit from our Psychology Peer Mentoring Program for incoming first-year students. Sections of our General Psychology classes are limited to only 35 students, and elective courses are typically no more than 40.

Our Accounting program is designed to prepare students for a career in the public accounting profession, private industry, government, and the nonprofit sector. What sets this accounting program apart is the emphasis placed on learning and gaining real-world experience from the accounting faculty who guide students in their accounting careers. All faculty are CPAs and have considerable work experience in the private or public sector.

The undergraduate program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science prepares students for direct entry into a career in computer science or further studies at the graduate level. Our program is tailored to prepare the students professionally to face the challenges of the rapidly evolving area of computer science. In addition, they are also equipped to contribute to and service the needs of a society that requires critical thinking and dedication to life-long learning.

The undergraduate program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering prepares students for direct entry into a career in engineering or further studies at the graduate level. The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. Our program seeks to prepare our students not only for the rapidly evolving field of electrical and computer engineering but also for a world that requires critical thinking and dedication to life-long learning. Many of our students enjoy successful careers as engineers and scientists; however, they also use their electrical engineering degrees to become lawyers, doctors, managers, and teachers.

Mechanical engineering serves humanity by solving problems and making life better, contributing to overall economic development, and protecting the environment. Broadly speaking, mechanical engineers study, design, and fabricate devices and components that move and use energy (almost everything!). Some examples include automobiles, aircraft, power plants, robots, pollution control systems, environmental remediation systems, children’s toys, motors, engines, and air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Do you love to tinker, like to help people, worry about the global environment, or take things apart just to see how they work? Then mechanical engineering is for you.

Are you a born performer? The musical theatre program in the Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art is designed to engage your passion for the stage in a rigorous training program that will prepare you to become a professional musical theatre artist, armed with the skills to perform on regional, national, and Broadway stages.

This program is designed to provide students with a broad philosophical background both in the history of philosophy and in the systematic study of philosophical questions.

Catholic University students choose the theology and religious studies major because they love to wrestle with ultimate questions and learn about how religious traditions inform the answers. For many, their studies are promoted by and in turn nourish their faith lives. Students are given a broad foundation in theology and religious studies through coursework and comprehensive exams. They are also provided an opportunity for intensive research in an area of their interest through their senior capstone seminar with its research paper.

The Environmental Science major includes courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and computing and information studies, giving students the ability to address environmental issues from a scientific and technological background. Internship and independent research opportunities are available.
