Introduction
The creation of the Higher Music Course in Uberlândia comes through the foundation of the Music Conservatory of Uberlândia, in 1957. In 1961 the course is made official with Qualification in Instrument (Accordion, Piano and Violin). In 1969, the Conservatory was transformed into a Faculty of Arts and became part of the University of Uberlândia, becoming federal in 1978.
Currently, the Course offers 50 places per year, in the Bachelor's and Licentiate's modalities: singing, recorder, transverse flute, percussion, piano, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, violin, viola (bow) and cello.
As of 2015, the Music course started to offer the Master in Music. Extension activities are also developed with groups such as Orquestra Popular do Cerrado, Recorder Group of UFU, Camerata de Violões, Percussion Group of UFU, Opera stagings, varied concerts and music education, through courses for teachers and projects with the community.
