Introduction
Students in the Department of Electrical, Information and Physics Engineering, starting from a grounding in electrical, communications, electronic, and information engineering as well as in applied physics, engage in research in such areas as the supply and use of electrical energy, next-generation information, and communications systems, functional materials and devices making use of nanotechnologies, the application of electronics technologies to medical care and welfare, electric vehicles, intelligent robots, and plasma engine for outer space vehicles. Through their studies and experiences they obtain the necessary research ability and knowledge for becoming leaders as core and specialized engineers.
The curriculum is divided into six courses (Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering) for studying specialized and basic subjects, deepening specialization in the discipline. Around 90 percent of the students in the Department go on to graduate school, with those in the fields of electrical, communications, and electronic engineering and applied physics going to the Graduate School of Engineering, those in the information science field going to the Graduate School of Information Sciences, and those in the medical engineering field entering the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering.
