Introduction
The Degree Course in Food Systems: Sustainability, Management, and Technology, prepares students to become expert food systems managers. The program provides the students with the interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to work in the business, environment, and natural resources management in the agri-food sector. This professional profile is in line with the sustainable development strategy outlined in the European Commission’s communication on “Innovating for Sustainable Growth: A Bio-economy for Europe.”
Curriculum
The Food Systems: Sustainability, Management, and Technology undergraduate degree program is divided into three specific educational paths: the first one focuses on subjects related to sustainability; the second on topics connected to food science and technology, while the third combines environmental sustainability with food technology, elaborating on those subjects associated with the modern bio-economist. The students, therefore, are offered an array of options; each one able to provide them with a skill-set that allows them to step right into a key position in the agri-food industry or a master’s level degree program.
Specific educational goals may differ, but they share a common denominator. In fact, they are all based on sound methodological training and the tools needed to succeed in business management.
More specifically, the course training is geared towards equipping students with cross-functional competencies that combine an understanding of supply chain and sector economics and business management skills with the technological know-how for food supply production and preservation, as well as environmental sustainability. The result is an interdisciplinary study plan focused on methodological aspects and basic skills that will continue to be useful in the future.

Program Outcome
